Many Civil Rights groups and student organizations that have united in support of Kanch Iliah after the death threats to him following his book on the Vyshya community, agree with the Dalit scholar that the atmosphere of fear must be seen as a larger conspiracy by the BJP and the Sangh Parivar to suppress dissent.
Iliah challenges Amit Shah for debate
Speaking out against the `siege’, Ilaiah accused BJP leaders of deliberately encouraging a section of people to act against him with an eye on votes. He announced that he would not discuss the contents of his book with any of the Arya Vysya community members, except with Amit Shah. “I am ready to discuss the merits and demerits of the views expressed in my book. But, the debate will be held only with Amit Shah. “I would question Amit Shah on the injustice that was meted out to the nation by Arya Vysyas,” he said.
In the eye of a storm

His controversial booklet on Arya Vysya community , titled “Samajika Smugglarlu – Komatollu” (Social Smugglers – Vysyas),since its release has sparked protests across the Telugu states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
