After some setbacks, young hero Naga Shourya is back again with ‘Chalo’. The film stars Rashmika Mandanna as the female lead and the trailer raised a lot of expectations over this film. Promising to be a fun ride, ‘Chalo’ is hitting the screens today and let us see how the film is going to be.

Story

Hari (Shourya) is young guy who likes fights and quarrels. Irritated by this, Hari’s father sends him to a village named Tirupuram, a state in between Tamil Nadu and Andhra for his studies. There he finds karthika (Rashmika) and falls for her.

But, he needs to solve some problems in the village to win his love. The rest of the story is all about how Hari solves those issues and ends the film on a happy note.

Performances

Naga Shourya fits the bill perfectly. He excels as a lover boy and impressed everyone with his fights and dances. He is at his usual best in comedy sequences. On the whole, he worked hard for this film and it can be seen onscreen. Rashmika Mandanna is cute and acts very well. Her dubbing also worked out and she is definitely here to stay.

Senior actors like Naresh and others were apt. Major credit should go to the comedians who made this film a complete entertainer. Sathya and Harsha were hilarious. Vennela Kishore shows his best once again and lifts the second half many times. Rest of the cast were okay.

Technicians

The film is sound in terms of technical excellence. Cinematography by Sai Sriram is very good and the visuals look amazing. Editing by Kotagiri Venkateshwara Rao is fine though the film becomes a bit dull in the second half. Production values from ‘Ira Creations’ are quite good as the entire village setup and richness can be seen.

Coming to writer and director Venky Kudumula, he did a pretty good job for his first film. His dialogues deserve a special mention as they evoke super laughter. Though he chooses a predictable story, he packaged the film perfectly and made it a complete entertainer. He could have written the second half in a stronger manner as it becomes slow compared to the first half.

Analysis

The film has nothing in terms of story as we have seen this kind of films before. But the novelty factor here is the Andhra – Tamil Nadu village setup. This makes the film look fresh. Also, comedy has worked out very well and actually lifted the predictable narration. The director used the comedy part to good use and saved the film from getting monotonous.

Despite all these, the film becomes a bit slow and appear dragged during the latter part of the film. Also, the flashback episode lacked the required emotion and climax looks a bit silly.

Conclusion

On the whole, the film gives the much-needed success to Naga Shourya. The hilarious scenes are the USP of this film. If you can ignore the slightly sluggish second half, you can enjoy this weekend with a complete entertainer.
