The killing of Gauri Lankesh, the vocal critic of Hindutva politics in Bangalore on September 5th has been put under the Special Investigation team by the Karnataka government.

Five people, allegedly associated with Goa-based right-wing Hindu organisation Sanatan Sanstha, have now emerged as the key suspects in the murder. According to media sources, the five missing suspects are Rudra Patil (37) from Sangli, Praveen Limkar (34) from Kolhapur, Jayaprakash alias Anna (45) from Mangalore, Sarang Akolkar (38) from Pune and Vinay Pawar (32) from Satara.

Common thread

These are the same people who are the prime suspects in Madgaon blast in Maharashtra and according to the CBI, Vinay Pawar was one of the assailants in the Dabholkar murder case and Sarang Akolkar was a conspirator. The Karnataka CID had said that Rudra Patil was a lead suspect in the Kalburgi murder case.

The worst part is that despite their alleged links to these crimes, none of these five suspects have been caught till now. There were also rumours that the suspects had escaped to Nepal after the above crimes.
