NHRC issues notice

The National Human Rights Commission(NHRC) issued notice to the Chattisgarh government, asking for a detailed report in 4 weeks time over this incident similar to its notice to the Uttar Pradesh government after the Gorakhpur tragedy.

The hospital authorities claimed that there was no shortage of oxygen supply and attributed the deaths to illness. The hospital has, however suspended the operator who is in-charge of the oxygen supply, after he was found in a drunken condition while on duty.
