Turncoats issue: YS Jagan pushes the ball into the governor’s court 

YSR Congress Party chief and leader of opposition in Andhra Pradesh Assembly questioned the constitutional propriety of induction four YSRCP MLAs into the Chandrababu Naidu cabinet. YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in a letter to the Governor ESL Narasimham asked him to take action against four MLAs who got elected on YSRCP ticket and shifted loyalties to the ruling party. How can they be inducted in to the cabinet when they were YCP MLAS as per the Assembly records, he asked and said that according to the official records YCP has 66 MLAs including the four inducted in the Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu cabinet. is democracy or something else, he asked.

Jaganmohan Reddy, who led party delegation to the governor on Monday, said that he had asked the governor to uphold the spirit of the constitution. “You either sack them from the cabinet or direct them to resign their assembly seat” the YCP leader requested the governor.

Jagan Reddy also reminded the governor the reaction of the Chandrababu Naidu when Talasani Srinivasa Yadav, a TDP MLA who crossed over to the ruling TRS in Telangana and inducted into Chief Minister KCR cabinet. Then Naidu described the governor’s action (of administrating the oath) as illegal, how can be legal now he asked. Jagan Reddy further said that his party will take the issue to its logical conclusion by taking it to the notice of Election Commission and other statutory bodies at the national level.
