Suresh Rana, who is contesting from Thana Bhawan in Shamli district, was booked by UP Police on charges of inciting hatred and polarising communities. “If I win, curfew will be imposed in Kairana, Deoband and Moradabad,” Rana is heard saying in a video clip released by news agency ANI.

On Sunday, addressing his followers, he said that “curfew will be imposed” in Kairana, Deoband, Moradabad if he and the party are elected in the polls starting next month. On Monday, when it was all over the news he tried to excuse himself by saying that his comments were taken out of context.

Exodus from Kairana similar to Kashmir says Yogi Adityanath

Meanwhile , the BJP leaders keep highlighting what they claim is mass exodus of Hindus from several areas of Shamli due to alleged extortion and threat by Muslim goons.

The BJP MP Yogi Adityanath has compared the situation in Uttar Pradesh’s Kairana to that of Jammu and Kashmir. Addressing a public meeting in Ghaziabad, he said, “On January 19, 1990, Hindus had to migrate collectively from Kashmir. A massacre took place, the honour of mothers and sisters were openly tramped upon… We have seen a sight similar to this. It was either in Bengal or western UP. Kairana and Kandhla are examples.” He further warned his followers to remember the rapes and riots when they go to vote.

In this poster he(the Yogi) is Uttar Pradesh Ram, defeating the evil Ravana.

BJP’s polarizing manifesto

Reclaiming its promise to build Ram temple, banning cow slaughter houses and resurrecting the Kairana issue has set the communal agenda in U.P ringing.

The largest state will go to vote on February 11th, the first phase of elections. Who says that elections are not fought on religion or caste basis?
